A teenage Mexican singer who was on the rise was shot and killed by her captors.

He was shot and killed on the side of the road in Tijuana, Mexico, on Wednesday night. His stage name was Chuy Montana.

Police in Tijuana said that a group of armed men attacked Cardenas, 25, on the road between Playas de Rosarito and Tijuana in an attempt to kidnap the singer for the band Corridos Tumbados.

Jumping out of the car his kidnappers had put him in was how Cardenas got away from them.

Multiple shots were fired at Cardenas, who was found dead with his wrists bound, according to the news source.

Punto Norte got pictures from the scene that showed the musician lying next to an orange Renault Stepway van.

His record label, Street Mob Records, which was started by famous Mexican musician Jesús Ortiz Paz of the band Fuerza Regida, said in a statement that he had died.

“On behalf of Street Mob Records, we deeply regret the death of our brother and coworker Chuy Montana,” the Instagram post said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this sad time.” We kindly ask the media to understand and show respect during this difficult time.

Cardenas was famous on social media for singing and playing his guitar between cars waiting in line to cross the border back into the US through San Ysidro, Tijuana, and before Ortiz Paz’s Street Mob Records signed him.

There was a video going around social media that showed the moment Cardenas and another guitarist ran into Ortiz Paz. Ortiz Paz was waiting in line to cross back into the US from Mexico.

In the video, Cardenas sings to Ortiz Paz, who then asks the man from Tijuana if he wrote the song.

Then Ortiz Paz takes out a piece of paper and says, “Sign here only.” He then signs Cardenas to his Street Mob Records. You’re now officially a member of the company. They are going to write you a note. That’s it, go home.”

In the end, Cardenas became famous after his singles Porte de Scarface and Ramos Buchones came out.

He is in Fuerza Regida’s new single “Polvos de Chanel,” which is from their album “Pa las Baby’s y Belikeada.”

It was sad for Ortiz Paz to hear about Cardenas’s death, so she shared two videos of the two of them singing in what looked like private settings.

Ortiz Paz posted one of the videos on his Instagram Stories. In it, Cardenas can be seen playing the guitar while Fuerza Regida’s lead singer raps.

Cardenas and Ortiz Paz rap together in the second video, which was filmed in a fancy backyard.
